The gospel

(good news)

Two thousand years ago the Son of God laid down his life so that you can have life!

Jesus Christ was crucified, nailed to a rugged cross like a common criminal in order to bear the penalty for your sin. Three days later he rose from the dead. He then ascended into Heaven where he is now. Ready to become your Saviour from sin, death, and Hell if you will only receive him by faith.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

1 Peter 3:18

God has revealed himself so that you can know him

Your Creator has made himself known. He has communicated with mankind. He has given us a great amount of information about himself. He has also made it possible for you to know him personally through his son, Jesus Christ.

All this information about himself, he has had written down and perfectly preserved every single word for you to read and learn for yourself within the pages of the King James Bible.

Many people doubt the Bible, but they do that either in ignorance or in foolishness. The Bible records hundreds of prophecies about the future, many of these have already come true, exactly as was foretold. A great many details about the birth, life, ministry, death and effects of Jesus and his works were foretold hundreds of years before his birth. Every prophecy, so far, has come true.

Great catastrophic events, the rise and fall of kings and empires, the destruction of cities, and other seemingly impossible to fulfil prophecies have been made in the Bible and fulfilled within the history of the world.

Therefore we all should pay very close attention to what the Bible says about us! As it has never been wrong before, being, as it is, the word of God.

The Bible says you are a sinner

You have broken Gods moral laws and are guilty in his sight.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen? Have you used Gods name as a curse word? Have you ever hated anyone? Have you ever looked at someone with lustful thoughts? Have you ever been envious? Have you ever been selfish? Entertained evil thoughts? Been greedy? Lazy? Looked at pornography? Had sex outside of marriage? Dishonoured your parents? The list goes on. If you are honest you will admit that you are a sinner in the eyes of God. God sees your heart, your motives, your desires. He knows your thoughts. He hears every word you speak. He is the all knowing God, there is nothing you can keep secret from him.

The Bible says the penalty for sin is hell fire

God is absolutely holy. He will not allow anyone to get away with any sin and will have justice.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)

Sounds harsh doesn't it? Well it is. God will not tolerate sin. No matter how good you think you are, even one sin is enough to keep you out of God's heaven. God is a just judge and he must punish sin, his nature compels him to have perfect justice carried out.

The Bible says that God has made a way for you to be forgiven

God is merciful, gracious, kind, and loving. He has no desire for anyone to go to hell. But you must be forgiven!

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

God, in his love, took upon himself the form of a man, Jesus Christ, who was born into this world as a baby and grew up living life as one of us. The Creator took the form of the created. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He lived the life that we all fail to live, in that, he was absolutely perfect in every aspect. Jesus lived his entire life without sin. An achievement no man before or since has accomplished. At thirty three and a half years old Jesus Christ willingly went to the cross where he suffered, bled, and died a horrible death in order to pay the penalty for your sin. He did that so that you can be forgiven, escape hell, and have a home in heaven. Three days and nights later, Jesus rose from the dead! He is still alive today and is the only man to ever defeat death and conquer the grave by his own power. Because, and only because, of what Jesus Christ achieved with his death, burial, and resurrection your sin can be forgiven. All of it. The shed blood of Jesus Christ is the only thing that has the power to wash away your sin in the eyes of God. HE SUFFERED IN YOUR PLACE. HE TOOK YOUR PUNISHMENT.

The Bible says you must respond to this offer

God offers you forgiveness as a free gift. But, as with any gift, you must receive it otherwise it's not yours to have.

the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23b)

If someone offers you a gift but you ignore them and never bother to take what is offered you miss out. The same is true with God. He calls you to respond to Jesus Christ by repentance and faith. You must acknowledge your sin and guilt before God, you must believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose from the dead, you must repent, which means turn to God from your love of sin. The instant you do that all your sin will be forgiven and you will have received the gift of everlasting life.

The Bible says you can be absolutely sure of Heaven

Once you have been saved, there is no way you can go to hell. Heaven is absolutely sure for the believer.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. (John 10:27-30)

Once you have had your sins forgiven you are instantly a child of God. He becomes your heavenly Father the very moment you receive Jesus Christ to be your Saviour. That will never change. You cannot loose your home in heaven once you belong to God.

There is absolutely nothing better than what the Lord Jesus Christ has on offer!
